What is Realtime report?

The Realtime report in Google Analytics allows you to monitor activity on your website or app as it happens. Here’s what you need to know:

  1. Overview:
    • Realtime provides immediate insights into user behavior, helping you understand how users engage with your content in real time.
    • You can track various metrics and dimensions related to user activity during the last 30 minutes.
  2. Key Metrics and Dimensions:
    • The Realtime report includes the following cards:
      • Users during the last 30 minutes (per minute): Shows the number of users active on your site or app during each minute.
      • Users by source, medium, or campaign: Reveals where your users are coming from.
      • Users or new users by audience: Identifies who your users are based on audience segments.
      • Users by page title or screen name: Indicates which content they engage with.
      • Event count by event name: Displays the frequency of specific events triggered by users.
      • Key events by event name: Highlights important events that users complete.
  3. User-Specific Insights:
    • You can view a user snapshot to see detailed information about a single user, including their device, app version, location, top triggered events, and relevant user properties.
    • Use the arrows in the first card to switch between snapshots of different users.
  4. Comparisons:
    • Apply comparisons to evaluate subsets of your data side by side. For example, compare different age groups or campaigns.
    • Click on the bubbles on the map to create location-based comparisons.
  5. Things to Keep in Mind:
    • User Processing:
      • Realtime shows:
        • Users in Last 30 Minutes: All users on your site or app.
        • New Users: Users visiting your site or app for the first time.
        • Users: Returning users who have been processed by Analytics.
      • New users and returning users who haven’t been processed are excluded from the “Users” count.
    • App Data:
      • App data is batched to conserve battery life, resulting in occasional delays.
    • No Data:
      • If you don’t see any data in your Realtime report, there may be no active users at that moment.
